A removal procedure where a mole is shaved or cut to remove it from the skin.
What is it?
Moles can vary in color from your natural skin tone to shades of pink, brown and black. They frequently appear during adolescence and can be either flat or raised on the surface of your skin. It's typical for 10 to 40 moles to emerge on your skin by the time you reach adulthood. Some develop slowly, and some may even lighten or vanish over time.
While the majority of moles are benign (non-cancerous), if you have any areas that concern you, we urge you to visit our dermatology clinic in Springfield, Grove City, or Dublin, Ohio. Our dermatologists will conduct a comprehensive examination and if necessary, we may even propose mole removal. Some patients opt to remove benign moles for cosmetic reasons or because the mole is in an irritating location on their skin.
What to expect
The process of mole removal involves one of our board-certified dermatologists either shaving or cutting the mole off your skin. With local anesthesia, most patients experience minimal pain during the procedure, which is typically over quickly. After the removal of your mole, your provider will give you after-care instructions to speed healing and avoid infection.
DIY mole removal at home can lead to complications, scarring and infection. This is one procedure to get done right, by trained medical providers. If you need a mole examined or removed, our providers are here to help.
