Benign (non-cancerous) vascular skin growth that occurs on the surface of your skin.
What is it?
Angiomas, small elevated growths, can surface anywhere on the body. Typically benign, they generally don't necessitate treatment. Yet, if you experience discomfort from an angioma or if it is situated in a prone-to-injury spot, we may recommend removal.
Hemangiomas often manifest in infants and children, appearing either on the skin or in internal organs like the brain or liver. When present on the skin, hemangiomas frequently resemble the red, raised look of strawberries, thus earning the moniker "strawberry hemangiomas."
While most angiomas and hemangiomas are benign, it’s important to have them examined by one of our professional, board-certified dermatologists to ensure they are not malignant. Buckey Dermatology's team of board-certified dermatologists serving Dublin, Grove City and Springfield, Ohio will work with you to determine the safest and most effective treatment plan for your skin.
How is it treated?
Most angiomas and hemangiomas are harmless and tend to resolve without treatment. If treatment is deemed necessary, we can remove angiomas or hemangiomas with a laser or liquid nitrogen. Both procedures remove the offending blood vessels and damaged cells. The cosmetic results of laser or liquid nitrogen are generally good and both treatments cause only minor discomfort.
